2018 September Trails and Ales

Published on 9/18/2018

Wow, what a great time we all had last Saturday at our 4thannual Sierra 4x4 Trails & Ales event. We started the day out with two groups of Jeeps, one at 10AM, the other at 11AM, with 12 to 15 Jeeps in each group.  Their destination was the Bear Valley OHV trail.

The trail is perfectly suited to our event.  It has terrain that ranges from difficult to easy, with fun tight squeezes and wonderful mountain vistas.  With names like Uptown Hill, Ballpeen Hill, Winch Hill and Rock Garden, you can imagine what these obstacles are like.  The beauty of this trail is that there are “go-arounds” for all of them.  Add to that, the trail is only minutes away from Truckee and you have the perfect trail for an event like ours.  I’m very happy to say that all who tried to make it over the obstacles did so with no problems.  Those who decided to do the go-arounds had a lot of fun driving them and enjoyed watching the other folks making it up the hills and over the rocks.
The group also had time to look over all the wonderful 4x4 related items that were donated to the Club by our friends at 4 Wheel Parts, Lithia of Reno and Auburn Jeep. Even our fellow club in North Lake Tahoe, the Hi Los, brought a nice portable heater to auction off.  We really appreciate these donations and will use the funds we raise for a worthy cause.
We then partook in a great BBQ feast put on by Tahoe Donner’s great catering staff.  The food included chicken, ribs, Caesar salad, macaroni salad, baked beans and probably the best brownies I’ve ever had. A big thank you goes out to the Tahoe Donner staff that did a great job for us.
A big thank you goes to all the TD 4 Wheelers Board Members who did all the planning and ground work to make this fun event happen.

All and all, a great time was had by all!
