May got us back out on the trails in Nevada to avoid the snow. We visited El Dorado Canyon, Como, Sand Mountain, Fairview Earthquake Fault, Cabin Under the Boulder, Berlin Ichthyosaur State Park, Middlegate Station, the Shoe Tree and Virginia City. El Dorado Canyon had some challenging new features due to winter erosion of the old road requiring spotting through the rocks. Conversely, we were expecting rough conditions from prior reports of the trail to Cabin Under the Boulder but found much of the road recently graded. We also enjoyed seeing the many wild burrows at the Marietta Wild Burro Range and checking out the old rock foundations of Marietta.
Due to lingering snow, we moved our first June run to the lower elevation Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park and continued our Nevada exploration with a run to the always facilitating, petroglyph rich Lagomarsino Canyon and the challenging Bronco Canyon.
