We had a great run to Faucherie Lake south of Jackson Meadow Reservoir. The road there, although rough, was much improved over years passed thanks to the Forest Service Road Crews so you no longer need to visit the dentist after the drive! Faucherie Lake is set in a stunning granite bowl and includes waterfalls and multiple granite islands. Our group split up into beach play, hiker and kayak/canoe contingents to enjoy the scenery. The hike to the falls on the opposite side of the lake is only about a mile, but some route finding is required as the trail isn’t marked. Kayaking to the falls is a straight paddle across the lake from the boat ramp but requires scrambling up steep granite faces to reach the falls overlooks. There is an upper and lower falls and water was flowing even during our fall trip. It’s definitely worth the visit!
