Special Run – Railroad Trestle Tour By Nelson Van Gundy of the Truckee Donner Railroad

Special Run June 22nd @10 AM – Railroad Trestle Tour by Nelson Van Gundy of the Truckee Donner Railroad Society.

Nelson has agreed to do a private Railroad Trestle Tour for the TD4WD Club!  We’ll explore many of the old logging railroad lines north of Truckee. We’ll see the engine house site and remnants of logging cars at Hobart Mills, narrow gauge trestles of the Sierra Nevada Wood and Lumber Company, More’s Station on the Henness Pass route, traces of the Boca and Loyalton mainline, derelict trestles of the Verdi Lumber Company, and the Boca town site.

The tour will leave from the Caboose Museum @  10 AM on June 22nd, 2019.  The Caboose Museum will be open by 9:20 if you would like to go through it before the tour. The Museum is located on the west side of the train station downtown Truckee.   Come prepared to drive a lot, hike a little, and bring a lunch. This run is suitable for stock Jeeps and other high clearance 4x4s.   Bring your family radio tuned to 20-20 to hear Nelson’s narration.  Recommended donation to the Truckee Donner Railroad Society is $10 per person.
