TD4WD Club Members took to the trail to practice 4x4 skills during Skills Day.

Obstacles included:

A steep loose surface hill to practice going as slow as possible while maintaining momentum.

A boulder crossing requiring a spotter and a steep hill needing a properly timed turn part way up.  Drivers learned tire placement and braking techniques.

A steep loose hill, with a nasty step, where one brave driver demonstrated getting sideways.  The wise driver used his winch in a timely manner to prevent a roll over and safely get up the hill.

A rocky hill that participants practiced self-winching to pull themselves up.

A “rock-garden” to practice their rock driving techniques.

Even the obstacle by-passes were challenging to stock vehicles, and to one vehicle’s whose 4WD wasn’t working.  All made it through safely and learned useful techniques for their future explorations.  To join see
