There is no Hunter Lake anymore, it was a sawmill pond back in the day - but it sure is a beautiful drive along the Mount Rose Wilderness. The trail often has water erosion trenches and rocky surfaces so a high clearance vehicle is recommended. There are view opportunities and an optional fun steep drop off to practice driving techniques.

Bear Valley OHV area is north of North east of Little Truckee Summit. it is a narrow trail that often has brush encroaching the trail, so pin stripping is possible, but it typically washes off. Wide/long vehicles won‘t make it between the trees. There are four major obstacles. Winch Hills 1, 2 and 3 and the rock garden. By passes are available. Winch Hill 3 is usually very ripped up with a major loose step - your trail leaders will help you if you want to attempt it.

Barrett Lake Jeep Trail is near Desolation Wilderness in a beautiful alpine area. It is a tough, highly technical route and the gatekeeper makes sure wide vehicles can‘t access the narrow trail. Expect a difficult trail on par with the Rubicon. The access is off of Highway 50 near Strawberry so the group will camp on site before hitting the trail.

Lagomarsino Canyon is a site with a large number of petroglyphs - one of the largest sites in Nevada. There is a small creek and Cottonwood trees so it is understandable way native peoples would have congregated here in the otherwise dry desert landscape. The road out is rocky but not technical.

Note: Meet at Lockwood Park, I-80 Lockwood Nevada Exit, first right before the Truckee River once off the freeway. Restrooms are available.
